It’s Cookie Time

Thanksgiving is ALMOST here and for my family that is the official start to the holiday season. I can’t wait to get in the kitchen and start baking with my girls! I love to decorate classic gingerbread and sugar cookies with my girls that we can then share with my loved ones, neighbors and friends. I’m super excited to make a new recipe, chocolate sandwich cookie with peppermint frosting. They sound delicious!

Classic Holiday Favorites

If your family is like mine it’s all about the standard classics at our Christmas dinner. Honey baked ham, roasted veggies, the cheesy goodness of Nanie’s Mac & Cheese and round it out with a simple salad.

Peanut Butter & Nutella Krispy Treats

3 ingredients mixed together for a tasty treat that goes great any time of year. Place 3 Rice Krispies treat bars in a cast iron skillet, and put into the over at 350 degrees for about 3 minutes. Remove from oven, and spoon in about 4 to 5 spoonfuls of peanut butter and mix with the softened treats.

 

Place back into oven for about 5 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven, spread on Nutella, and let cool. Once cooled, slice, and eat.

The Taste of November

November is one of my very favorite months for baking and cooking. Everybody seems to slow down just enough to appreciate comfort food this time of year. One of my favorite things to bake for my family is a traditional pumpkin bread with a twist. It’s the perfect comfort food this time of year!

Over the years I’ve found two tricks that make it even more yummy! Sprinkle a little brown sugar on top of it before you bake it. It adds a tiny sweet crunch AND as soon as you take it out of the oven, immediately wrap it tightly in cling wrap. It keeps it super moist! Add a small amount of cream cheese on top and it’s perfect for breakfast, dessert or after school snack!
